SIMBA: BEYOND TRACEABILITY
“Traceability” has been a focus of the fresh food industry for the past few years for a number of reasons.
- Government Regulations
- Brand Reputation
- Recall Readiness
- And more…
By definition, traceability is “the ability to trace a food through all stages of production, processing and distribution.” A good traceability system offers much more, including:
- Business Intelligence – information that enables the management of the business more effectively
- Accurate product labeling
- Ability to respond quickly to a recall
- Improved Brand and Reputation
Because of its flexible process, SIMBA can mimic a current process with few if any changes required, resulting in fast implementation and less disruption within a processing or packing facility. The information resulting from SIMBA’s data collection will provide up to the minute statistics (production or packing by line, for example) that will allow the owner/manager to make adjustments.

DESIGN A MEANINGFUL LOT NUMBER
A Lot Number identifies a specific product in a specific form. What this means is when a product changes form (filleted, sorted into different sizes, weight changes, etc.) it will require a new lot number. If you are not following this guideline, we can help.
