Being a Campus Security Guard is similar to being policeman in a small village – they are responsible for the safety of their students, faculty and visitors as well as campus property.
The University of Connecticut Police decided that along with using the CheckMate Equipment Management software to track their officers’ equipment, they wanted to be able to print their own police ID cards. This would give them the ability to provide new officers ID badges immediately and to produce temporary badges at any time.
UConn decided on the P120i Card Printer from Zebra Technologies. This printer produces a dual-sided color ID card that can include a logo, a photo and a barcode along with other text, such as the officer’s name. The solution is affordable and easy to use; it has a small footprint and sleek design so it can fit easily on a desk. They bought the P120i “bundle”, which includes the printer, Zebra’s card design software, a webcam for photo generating and a starter-kit of cards and ribbon.
